Court finds arthritis drug Vioxx to be defective

The Federal Court has ruled the makers of the controversial arthritis drug Vioxx put a defective drug on the market, which doubled the risk of heart attacks.

'Journal' Raises New Questions About 2000 Vioxx Study

The prestigious New England Journal of Medicine is publishing more criticism of a 2000 study on Vioxx. The Journal says at least two researchers knew about "adverse cardiovascular events" more than four months before the article was published. Merck removed Vioxx from the market in 2004 and faces thousands of Vioxx-related lawsuits.

Attorneys in Vioxx case say they donĂ¢ t know who leaked document

ATLANTIC CITY - Attorneys in the Vioxx case testified Tuesday that they do not know who gave a copy of a document to an Associated Press reporter containing information that Merck scientists discussed mixing the popular arthritis drug with another compound to lessen the potential of the drug causing heart attacks and strokes.
