Merck Chief?s Pay Increases by 80%
The chief executive of Merck, Richard T. Clark, received compensation valued at $14.5 million in 2007, despite Merck?s $4.85 billion loss to settle Vioxx litigation.
Pfizer settles for $894 million
Drug giant Pfizer has reached an $894 million deal to settle most of the lawsuits over withdrawn pain reliever Bextra, following the lead of rival Merck & Co., which is spending five times as much to settle Vioxx lawsuits.
