ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Even short-term use of the painkiller Vioxx can double the risk of heart attack, a medical statistics expert testified Thursday in a product liability trial. He said manufacturer Merck & Co. misrepresented the dangers after a study showed Vioxx users had five times more heart attacks than those taking a comparison drug.
