Merck says some Vioxx suits could be settled
NEW YORK - Merck & Co. might consider settling some lawsuits over its painkiller Vioxx, whose links to heart trouble have spawned thousands of lawsuits and a $253 million jury verdict, a spokesman for the company’s legal team said Friday.

Heart attack victim files suit against Vioxx's maker
A man who suffered a heart attack after taking the painkiller Vioxx sued its manufacturer Tuesday in federal court in Denver. Art Kleinstein, a 58-year-old real estate developer in Denver, suffered a "catastrophic" heart attack last June after being prescribed Vioxx for pain from hip surgery.
